Art , like life should be savoured and explored with passion and curiosity. My art reflects this diversity through my eclectic choice of mediums and techniques. The essence of my work is to create a connection with the viewer. I believe in exploring new horizons. Artist Biography:
Sandi Bassett is a multifaceted artist whose creative journey spans across continents and disciplines. Their passion for art, community, and cultural exchange has not only shaped their artistic style but has also transformed the lives of many through various initiatives and projects.
Having traveled extensively, she has left an indelible mark on walls across the globe, painting vibrant and meaningful murals in places as diverse as Mexico and Cambodia. In Cambodia, she ran a non-governmental organization focused on art, working tirelessly with underprivileged children, empowering them with the transformative power of artistic expression.
With a solid academic foundation, she holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education in Art and Psychology. This educational background, coupled with her hands-on experience, has allowed them to teach art in a variety of settings. They shared their knowledge and passion on a Native reserve in Alberta, where their students achieved recognition and awards for their exceptional artwork.
Sandi is deeply committed to community service. Currently residing in Vancouver, they volunteer at two community centers, enriching the lives of vulnerable , low income and senior individuals through art. Their dedication to giving back and creating inclusive spaces for artistic expression reflects their belief in the power of art to heal and unite .
Their artistic repertoire is nothing short of eclectic. From abstract compositions to intricate portraits, their work spans a myriad of styles. They explore diverse mediums, including oil, acrylic, mixed media, and sculpture, showcasing their versatility and innovative spirit. Additionally, their fascination with global art forms led them to take courses in traditional techniques like Balinese batik and mask carving in Bali ; silver smithing and glass blowing in Thailand. They have also delved into the world of ceramics and silk screening in Alberta, further enriching their creative palette.
Beyond traditional forms of art, Sandi has ventured into the realm of fashion design, adding another dimension to their creative expression. Their ability to seamlessly blend various art forms exemplifies their avant-garde approach to creativity.
